EfirCards: development of a digital platform for discount cards and loyalty programs

Today’s Ukrainian market places ever higher demands on customer retention. Retailers, cafes, beauty salons, fitness clubs, service companies – all of them need tools that will help not only attract but also retain customers. At the same time, the cost of attracting a new customer continues to grow, which makes a loyalty program for small business in Ukraine not just an additional option, but a strategic necessity. Until recently, such programs were the prerogative of large chains with developed IT-infrastructure. Such solutions seemed inaccessible to small and medium businesses because of the high cost of development, printing of plastic cards, and integration with cash register systems. The emergence of digital technologies has changed the rules of the game.

EfirCards is a service of electronic loyalty cards, created specifically to make the launch of a loyalty program available to every business. The platform allows you to set up and launch a virtual discount card Google Wallet or an electronic loyalty card Apple Wallet, manage bonuses, send notifications to customers and analyze the results of campaigns in a matter of hours.

Project Objectives

AVADA MEDIA team was tasked to develop a platform capable of meeting the following requests:

  • Ability to issue digital discount cards for companies without the need to print plastic and use specialized equipment.
  • Support for mobile wallets: Apple Wallet store card Ukraine and Google Pay business discount card so that the card is stored in the client’s smartphone.
  • Creation of a user-friendly constructor that allows customization of the electronic discount card for the brand without programming skills.
  • Implementation of flexible scenarios: accumulative discount online card, cashback program, digital stamp card for cafes, virtual coupons and discount business.
  • Notification system integration: push notifications discount card, sms notifications for loyalty program, telegram bot for loyalty program.
  • Provision of analytics for business: analytics for loyalty program, reports on transactions, user activity, average check.
  • Expandability: in the future – integration of loyalty cards into CRM, data export, API for connecting third-party systems.

Thus, EfirCards was to become a full-fledged marketing platform for discounts, available not only to large chains, but also to entrepreneurs opening a small coffee shop or a local online store.

How the platform works

Registration and customization. A business user registers on the platform and then gets access to a personal account. In the interface it is possible to:

  • select the type of card (fixed discount, accumulative, cashback, stamps);
  • upload logo and corporate colors, creating a white-label discount card;
  • customize the terms of the promotion: discount percentage, accumulation step, cashback amount, number of required visits.

The whole process takes 10-15 minutes. After customization, the card is available for distribution via QR code, link or website integration.

Receipt of the card by the client. The client scans the QR code or follows the link, after which the card is added to the smartphone: an Apple Wallet electronic loyalty card or a Google Wallet virtual discount card. The card is stored in the mobile wallet, and when visiting a store it is enough to show the QR code for scanning.

Bonus utilization and accrual. At each purchase the cashier scans the card, and the system automatically records the transaction, accrues bonuses, discount, stamp or cashback depending on the settings. The client sees the actual balance right on the smartphone screen. The functionality is suitable for both corporate bonus card employees and electronic business gift certificates, allowing for flexible customization of usage scenarios.

Applications in various industries

  • Retail. For stores, the platform becomes a loyalty system for retail Ukraine. Store owners can launch both a simple accumulative discount online card and a virtual club card Ukraine for regular customers, combining discounts and bonus programs. The key advantage is that there is no need to print plastic. The platform allows you to issue a loyalty card without plastic, which saves the budget and simplifies logistics.
  • Cafes and restaurants. Catering establishments use a digital stamp card for cafes – a replacement for paper cards with stamps. Each visit is recorded by the system, and after a certain number of visits the client receives a free meal. Additionally, the institution can set up push-notifications discount card or sms-mailings for the loyalty program to remind the client about the visit or invite to a special promotion.
  • Beauty salons. Salons can run an online beauty salon discount card with per-service bonuses or fixed discounts. The platform also supports virtual coupons and business discounts that can be sent out to customers via a telegram bot for loyalty program or e-mail.
  • E-commerce. For online shopping, the platform provides a loyalty card for e-commerce, allowing customers to receive discounts on repeat purchases, participate in a cashback program for businesses, and use electronic business gift certificates. Online retailers can integrate the platform through APIs, which creates an opportunity to automate Google Wallet discounts and utilize the data in CRM.

Management and analytics

In the personal cabinet of the business are available:

  • service loyalty program analytics (customer activity, average check, number of transactions);
  • report uploading (Excel, CSV);
  • bonus management: online customer bonus management.

Thus, the business gets full control over its program, sees which offers work better, and can quickly adapt promotions.

Development process

AVADA MEDIA realized the project step by step:

  1. Analyzing market needs and target audience.
  2. Working out scenarios of using the platform.
  3. Creation of interfaces: personal cabinet, map builder, client screens.
  4. Implementation of backend and frontend.
  5. Manual testing of business scenarios.
  6. Launching and handing over the project to the client.

During the development process, special attention was paid to the simplicity of the interface, so that any business, even without technical specialists, could use the platform.

Results of implementation
